In early May, a ransomware attack shut down computers and servers in Baltimore’s city government. The attack was said to have used ransomware called Robinhood. The attack rendered essential city services unavailable for almost all of May, demanding a total of almost $100,000 in Bitcoin. Baltimore City Mayor Jack Young said that the city has no intention of paying the ransom and that the FBI and Secret Service are looking into the matter.
